My participation began through a portrait-making activity connected to the Festival de la Lectura Chacao 2015, where photographers from CIEF, Foto Arte, and Organización Nelson Garrido were invited to photograph people attending the festival. The idea was not simply to make portraits, but to look at each person with the same attention and dignity that characterized Brito’s approach to everyday Venezuelans.
A selection of the portraits produced during the project was later chosen to become part of the Inside Out Project, allowing the images to be reproduced on a large scale and presented publicly during Foto Maracaibo 2015.
Being part of this project was particularly meaningful to me because it connected my own photographic practice with the work of a master whose images demonstrated the power of looking closely at ordinary people. Through these portraits, I became part of a collective conversation about identity, dignity, memory, and the importance of telling a country’s story through the faces of its people.
The faces of Luis Brito

In 2015, I had the opportunity to participate in Las Caras de Luis Brito, a collective photographic project created as a tribute to one of the most influential voices in Venezuelan photography. The project brought together photographers from different generations who followed the visual spirit of Luis Brito by creating intimate portraits of ordinary people.
